Keeping your shop’s pricing consistent and up-to-date can feel tedious—especially when you’re juggling dozens or hundreds of listings. In Vela, you have three main workflows to make price updates faster and more intentional: Bulk Edit, Profiles, and CSV Uploads. Each one shines in different scenarios, and this guide walks you through how to choose the right tool, how each workflow operates, and the different ways you can update prices.

We’ll also cover important Shopify price settings (including CAP) and explain how Vela handles currencies so everything makes sense end‑to‑end.

How to...

  1. Choose the best method for you
  2. Update prices
  3. Update CAP for Shopify
  4. Understand how currency works in Vela

1. Choose the best method for you: Bulk Edit, Profiles, or CSV

Bulk Edit – Best for quick, targeted updates

Use Bulk Edit when you want to change prices for a specific set of listings—maybe an entire category, a seasonal sale, or a small batch of products. Learn more about updating prices with bulk edit.

  • Great for one‑time edits
  • Fast way to apply price changes across filtered listings
  • Full control and visibility before saving
  • When the change is uniform across all listings or variations
    • Example: Increase all prices by 10%

Profiles – Best for systems and consistency

Use Profiles when you want ongoing consistency without repeating work. Profiles allow you to create a template for elements of listings and use that template to overwrite pricing and other details for hundreds of listings at once, including for variations with different prices, and then manage updates for all connected listings in one unified place. Learn more about updating prices with profiles.

  • Best for sellers with “types” of products that share a formula
  • Best when you want to change a price for just one variation that is shared by many listings
  • Ideal when you frequently add new variations or make price adjustments

CSV Uploads – Best for large-scale or offline updates

CSV editing is great when you’re working outside Vela (Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers) or making sweeping changes for hundreds or thousands of listings.

  • Best for power-users
  • Helpful if you prefer spreadsheet editing
  • Ideal for bulk migrations or structured pricing updates

2. Update prices in Vela

Regardless of which workflow you choose, Vela gives you multiple ways to adjust prices. These options help you move quickly without manually recalculating every value.

Editing One-by-One

Sometimes you just need to tweak a few listings manually. This is the clearest approach when precision matters.

  • Open a listing → adjust the price → save
  • Helpful for unique or irregular products

In bulk and profiles

  • Use "Change To" when you want to set a specific price across selected items.
      • Example: Set all mugs to $22.00
  • Increase By
    • Adds a dollar or percentage amount on top of the existing price.
      • Example: Increase all prices by 10%
      • Example: Increase by $2.00 for a small cost adjustment
  • Decrease By
    • Perfect for sales or stock‑clearance adjustments.
      • Example: Decrease by $5.00
      • Example: Decrease by 15%
  • Cents-only changes
    • Gives your pricing a clean, intentional look.
      • Examples:
      • End all prices with .99
      • Clean up percentage changes by setting all cents to .00 after an increase/decrease

3. Update CAP for Shopify

For Shopify sellers, Vela supports editing Compare at Price (CAP) right alongside the main price.

You’ll find CAP in the same editing panel as price edits:

  1. Select listings.
  2. Navigate to Price, for the whole listing or variations.
  3. Adjust Compare at Price using any of the same methods—Change To, Increase By, Decrease By, etc.

CAP allows you to show sale pricing on Shopify, and Vela makes it easy to update both fields in one pass.

4. How currency works in Vela

A few helpful details about how Vela handles pricing and how that translates to your shop.

Vela displays all prices in USD

Even if your shop runs in GBP, AUD, CAD, EUR, or another currency, Vela shows everything in USD for consistency. No matter what adjustments you make here, your shop will continue showing prices in the currency you’ve set in your shop settings.

Etsy Domestic and Global Pricing

Etsy does not support 3rd-party apps adjusting pricing for listings with this setting activated. See the full article here for more details.
