We collect only the minimum data required to provide a high-quality multi-channel experience.

A. Account & Authentication

  • Direct Sign-up: We collect your name and email address.
  • Third-Party Authentication: If you sign up using Google or Facebook, we receive an authentication token and basic profile info. We do not receive or store your social media passwords.

B. Marketplace Inventory Data

To sync your shops, we connect to your accounts via official APIs. We store a copy of your inventory data (titles, descriptions, tags, and variants) to enable rapid bulk editing. Your use of these integrations is governed by the respective marketplace's terms:

We use automated tools to improve our Service and measure our marketing:

  • Product Analytics (PostHog): We use PostHog to track how you interact with our features, helping us improve the product experience.
  • Web Analytics (Google Analytics): We monitor site traffic and performance.
  • Marketing Pixels: We use tracking pixels (e.g., Meta Pixel) to show you relevant Vela updates on other platforms.

2. AI and Data Privacy

Vela uses Artificial Intelligence to help you generate and optimize listing content.

  • Ownership: You retain full ownership of the inputs you provide and the outputs generated by our AI for your specific shop.

3. How We Share & Protect Data

We do not sell your personal or shop data. We only share data with essential providers:

  • Hosting: Secure cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS/Google Cloud).
  • Payments: All payments are processed via Stripe. Vela does not store your credit card or bank details. Stripe Privacy Policy.
  • Security: We use industry-standard encryption to protect your data in transit and at rest.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

  • No "Ghost Data": If you choose to delete your Vela account, all synced marketplace inventory and personal information are permanently removed from our active databases immediately.
  • Legal Records: We retain basic billing and transaction records as required by law for tax and accounting purposes.

5. Global Rights (CCPA & GDPR)

Whether you are in California, Europe, or elsewhere, we provide the following rights:

  • Access & Correction: You can view and update your info in your account settings.
  • Erasure: You can delete your account at any time.
  • Opt-Out: You can manage cookie preferences via your browser to opt-out of tracking pixels or Google Analytics.

6. Supplemental Notice for European Users (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, the following additional disclosures apply:

  • Legal Basis: We process data to perform our Contract with you (syncing your shop) and based on Legitimate Interests (improving our product via PostHog).
  • International Transfers: As a US-based company, we ensure a high level of protection for European data via the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
  • AI Transparency: In compliance with the EU AI Act, we disclose that Vela uses AI systems for content generation. These are classified as low-risk and are intended solely for assisting user-driven optimizations.
